Following several leaks about Apple’s controversial yet virtually bezel-less redesign, a detailed iPhone 8 dummy model confirmed that the devices would have an elongated 18.5:9 aspect ratio like the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, Forbes reported.

It would also reduce bezel sizes to just 4 mm on all sides and feature a vertically aligned rear camera, the report added.

Earlier leaks have suggested design changes in detail. They also pointed out that the 2017 device would have an all-display front with the fingerprint scanner moved to the back.

The handful of images also showed the upcoming iPhone 8 with rear-placed Touch ID placed directly below the Apple logo.

The rear dual-camera system on the iPhone 8 would protrude more than ever before.

The front camera could be using a 3D sensor, looks set to use a 3D model of your face to unlock. The technology, which includes an infrared transmitting and receiving module i the front camera allows to find the location and depth of objects placed in front of it. The technology may benefit augmented reality by having your face appear as a 3D model in apps and games. However, the 3D sensors will be included only in the iphone’s front-facing camera system.

Release date
The iPhone 8 will be officially unveiled on 12 September. Apple has sent out invites (below) to a launch event in its newly-built Steve Jobs Theatre on its new campus, where it’s also expected to unveil the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus.

Naturally, Apple will stream the event on its website, and it’s expected to kick off at 6pm UK time.

If it’s anything like Apple’s new MacBooks, next year’s iPhone will be more expensive than this year’s release, with some analysts claiming that the highest-spec model will be the first iPhone to cost more than $1,000.

A report at Forbes claims that pricing could start at an eye-watering $1,100 to $1,200, with Apple offering the handset in 128GB and 256GB configurations only.
